There is something about the spring time that wakes me up to new possibilities. My senses are quickened and come alive to the aromas which abound in my little back yard. Orange blossoms meet my inner awareness before I even notice their small ivory buds. Then, there are all of those amazing colors from the many different varieties of flowers! Well done, God. Spring shouts of your amazing creative ability and love of beauty! Consider, however, the new life which appears. From gray woody branches, little buds appear, flowers blossom, fruit sets, and leaves shoot out! Wow! It is a miracle that attracts my attention every day. Yes, literally, every day I walk out into my tiny little back yard and examine the new life coming forth. There are strawberries, blackberries, peaches, tangerines, and more blooming and fruiting. I truly love this time of year. Like a proud dad, I drag visitors and family members around and show them the miracles as if I had anything to do with them. Today, several butterflies visited the blossoms, and I’m reminded of the bigger miracle of transformation. Scripture says it was like pinky strength for God to create the heavens and earth, but it takes his mighty right arm to change the heart of a man. When I see these delicate little creatures (butterflies), I am reminded of the overall change that has come to my life since I started allowing God to do for me what He has promised. The fruit of the Spirit comes from his miraculous power. Like spring time, it is effortless on our part. We do nothing but enjoy the change, the newness, the life which comes when we look to see what only HE can do. This spring, as the new shoots and blossoms spring forth and the butterflies flit about on their two or three week journey of life, look to see what transformation and beautification He wants to do in you for your very own “Spring’s Renewal.”
