Alfred Gockel
was born in 1952 near Münster, Germany.

His first work of art was published at the age of 8 years old by a German publisher.
From 1973 to 1977 he studied at the University of Applied Sciences Münster, Department of Design.
After finishing his studies he received several teaching assignments for printmaking techniques.
In the year 1982 he founded the publishing company AVANT ART.
From 1985 on his artwork was presented at the Art Expo NY. There his staggering carreer started in the US.
In 1988 he bought the old mill in Lüdinghausen (Germany) and turned it into his studio and gallery.
In 1999 he founded the new building with the logistic center for the publishing company and the
graphic design studio with silk-screen printing. Since then a wide variety of hand-signed limited editions 
has been created and printed.

During his travels he has met Salvador Dali and Miro and he's a great admirer of Kandinsky and Picasso.
In the United States he was impressed by the art of Jasper Johns and Jackson Pollock.

In 2006 Alfred Gockel designed the official American version of the Olympic Games Affiche, (held in Turin, Italy) 
during these Games an Olympic exhibition of 60 acrylics have been exposed in Atlanta US.

In 2008 he founded the artgroup Quadriga, which is about etching, woodcut, linoleum and lithograph. 
Alfred Gockel's high-quality etchings reflect the craftmanship of his inspirators: Picasso, Mirò, Chagall, 
Dali and Dürer. In addition to painting and printing techniques he is looking for the three-dimensional expression.

As a sculptor he has already worked with steel, acrylic, bronze, sandstone and marble. 
The "Yellow Angel" sculpture at the motorway interchange in Kamen (A1/A2) and the wing at he A1 in Münster Hiltrup are two of his most significant projects. His particular focus is the art in public spaces.
