Travel along Rt 42 just east of Sanford, North Carolina a short distance and you will come to the Ole Gillian Mill sitting about 100 feet off the road on the right side. The original mill burned down years ago but the new owner searched throughout the state to find other old abandon mills and used parts and pieces from them to rebuild the Gillian Mill to specs as close to the original building as possible. On the other side of the highway is a beautiful covered bridge that he also built after visiting Indiana and a few other states to acquire proper blueprints on the antique replica. It’s worth a trip there to visit the park filled with antique crank-up machinery, old buildings, and a beautiful pond,,,, I can testify, there’s a lot for an artist to paint there.
